Credit cards now accepted at admission gates, souvenier booths and country store “It is a new era”, says Linda Rich, fair president.  “Our fairgoers have come to expect the ease of use a credit card provides, and we are excited to be able to offer purchases of tickets online in addition to now taking credit cards at our admission gates and in our country store and souvenir booths.” 

 

The Brooklyn Fair is pleased to announce the new Read to Win Program as part of this years fair.  This event is open to all kids ages 17 and under.  Bring your completed summer reading list (as provided through your school or local library) to the read to Win Schoolhouse located in the family area at the Brooklyn Fair and be a winner!  Each participant will receive a Read to Win ribbon provided by the International Association of Fairs and Expositions and a star in lights on the Read to Win Schoolhouse.  In addition, each participant will receive  free “Bookworm” ice cream donated by We-Lik-It ice cream at their booth located on the fairgrounds.  This is the world launch of the new ice cream flavor featuring gummy worms.  This has been created exclusively for the Read to Win participants and is not available anywhere else!

“We are excited to bring educational entertainment to the children in our community” says Pam Roy, superintendent of Children’s activities at the fair, “Each year in our family area we are bringing in new and exciting events that will entertain while teaching, this event joins our previous successful events including the farmer for a day program, the grocery game, the hay maze and the corn pit to name a few.”

 
2nd Annual Vegetable Races What is vegetable racing?  Picture a pinewood derby race using fruits and vegetables in place of the wood block!  Any fruit or vegetable may be used, the only restriction is the width that will fit on the track cannot exceed 2.5 inches.  The wheel kits are available at no charge in the secretary’s office on the fairgrounds.  Weights may be used and are available for purchase at Danielson Surplus Sales on Main St in Danielson.  Decorating your vegetable as a racecar is encouraged, a ribbon will be awarded to the most original. Races will be run in heats of 4, the winner of each heat will advance to the next level.  Ribbons will be awarded to all participants.  Open to all kids 17 and under, there is no entry fee for this event, kids over the age of 12 will be required to pay an admission fee to enter the fairgrounds.
