2022 CONNECTICUT LIVESTOCK REGULATIONS FOR FAIRS & SHOWS HAVE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES FOR CONNECTICUT POULTRY

“All birds must be inspected, identified and be accompanied by written proof (CT Flock Test card or CT Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory Report) that verifies the breeding flock or the individual birds listed on the report were blood-test negative for Salmonella pullorum within 365 days of the show date. Concurrent Avian influenza testing of the flock and/or individual birds is strongly recommended.”
PLEASE CHECK THE RULES FOR NEW REQUIREMENTS REGARDING REQUIRED BANDING OF ALL BIRDS—EVEN THOSE NOT REQUIRING A BLOOD TEST!

CT Dept. of Ag, has advised us that state inspectors will come to individual homes to test birds. To make arrangements (860) 713-2562. will arrange inspector’s visits…You should allow a minimum of 2-3 weeks between the Inspector’s visit and receipt of the report from the lab…If you have any questions” regarding these new State regulations, “please call the State Dept. of Ag at (860) 713-2504 or (860) 713-2505.”

Exhibits are entered at the sole risk of the owner. The best possible care will be taken of all exhibits, but the management will not be responsible for any accident, mistake, loss or damage. Absolutely no sick animals will be allowed in the show. There will be no new entries or changes after the forms are mailed in, they are final, only deletions are accepted. Exhibitors are limited to a maximum of 25 in poultry and 25 in rabbits.

The decision of the judge is final. Ribbons and trophies will be awarded at the show. The show will open to receive entries on Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All exhibits must be in place by 2 p.m. on Thursday. The judging will take place Thursday night. All livestock may not be removed until 5 p.m. Sunday. ALTHOUGH LIVESTOCK IS RELEASED AT 5 PM…VEHICLES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE AREA OF THE POULTRY BUILDING UNTIL AFTER 6 PM. YOU MAY WALK YOUR ENTRIES OUT STARTING AT 5. There are no entry fees. The Fair Association will feed and water all poultry and rabbits during the fair.

The sale of animals entered into the Brooklyn Fair poultry barn is now prohibited. Sale signs will not be allowed on cages and will be removed by staff. Barn managers and volunteers will, in no way, be involved with the sale of any animals. For no reason, other than illness, will animals be allowed to leave until the END of the Fair on SUNDAY.

Youth is age 19 and younger – in accordance with 4-H age.

All entries must be as a true representation of their breed. All single entries, no pairs or trios. Only one animal per line on entry blank. Be sure to enter Department, Class, and Lot number on entry blank as well as filling in the description.
