Rules and regulations set forth by the State of Connecticut Department of Agriculture will be observed.
The final decision on the health of poultry will be determined by the show director.
- SEC. 150-3-2 Only healthy adult birds may be shown.
- SEC. 150-3-3 All entries to a show or exhibition shall be accompanied by a declaration or certification from the owner or exhibitor that, to the best of his or her knowledge the poultry entries are free from any evidence of and were not recently exposed to Newcastle Disease or any other infectious or transmissible disease.
- SEC. 150-3-5 All crates, boxes, containers, and vehicles used for transporting the poultry to a show, shall have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. All poultry must be Pullorum tested and found negative within the last twelve months, with a card of approval from the Livestock Division for out-of-state exhibitors.
- Waterfowl may not be shown during the 2025 show season.
Rules and Regulations
- All entries must be made by August 10, 2025. No post entries.
- All entries competing must be the property of the exhibitor.

- Birds can be cooped in Wednesday between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and NO later then 11a.m Thursday. NO walk in entries will be accepted.
- Be sure to state on the entry that the bird is either “cock”, “cockeral”, “pullet”, or “hen” and Bantam or standard.
- The Poultry Department will furnish feed and water and care for all birds. The Fair will not be responsible for injury, fire, theft, or sickness of any animal in the poultry department. The members of their departments are well-trained in Animal Science and will try to control and care for your property in the best possible way.
- Any birds showing signs of sickness or disease will be removed.
- The judge's decision is final.
- Birds may not be removed before 5:00 p.m. Sunday and must be removed by 7:00 p.m.
- Entries will be limited to 40 birds per family. Entries are also limited by our cage capacity and will be accepted on a first-come basis.
Junior Department
This is for exhibitors that have not reached their 16th birthday by July 1st. Junior poultry will be judged separate from the regular open competition poultry. All rules and regulations of the open competition apply with this class. 4H Poultry Welcome.
